In a move to improve maternal health outcomes, the FCT Strategic Health Development Plan II (2018-2020) largely targets direct causes of maternal mortality. However, with the growing evidence of non-communicable diseases as indirect contributors to worsening maternal health outcomes, the interest of the FCT health sector in tackling these indirect causes among women of reproductive age is equally growing.
