HSDF convened a pre-training orientation with the Kaduna State Primary Health Care Board (SPHCB) leadership to review findings from the Facility Expenditure Tracking Assessment conducted by HSDF across 23 Centres of Excellence and jointly shape a targeted financial management capacity-building programme.

The assessment identified gaps across accounting practices, revenue management, expenditure tracking, reporting and oversight. These findings are now providing the basis for designing practical training that responds directly to the financial management needs of PHC facility staff.

The engagement also incorporated perspectives from Local Government Health Secretaries and Ward Development Committees, recognising their roles in strengthening accountability and supporting improvements in facility performance and PHC service delivery.

Beyond training, HSDF and SPHCB identified the need for continued mentorship, supportive supervision, stronger accountability mechanisms and digital tools to sustain improvements in facility financial management. This approach connects evidence from PHC facilities directly to capacity building and longer-term systems strengthening, while informing potential scale-up across Kaduna State’s 255 ward-level PHCs.
