Year : 2026

In February 2026, Project Aisha partnered with the Lagos State Health District leadership (Districts 2–6) to convene the first peer-to-peer Quality Improvement (QI) Cluster Meeting during the project’s scale-up phase.

The meeting brought together 195 frontline healthcare workers from 69 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across 16 LGAs, creating a platform for facility teams to review performance data, share challenges, and co-develop practical solutions to strengthen maternal healthcare delivery.

Facilitated by trained state QI mentors, the sessions strengthened healthcare workers’ capacity to apply QI tools in service delivery while encouraging peer learning and collaboration across facilities.

Within the first three months of implementation, encouraging results are already emerging. Facility teams presented measurable improvements using run charts. Ita Elewa PHC reported an 88% improvement in the quality of antenatal care services.

Similarly, the Officer-in-Charge of Agboju PHC shared her experience using the WHO Labour Care Guide:

“The Labour Care Guide is much easier for me to use than the partograph. It has made labour monitoring more seamless and effective for us in the PHC.”

These results reflect the strong commitment of health district and LGA leadership to improving care at the primary healthcare level. Healthcare workers left the meeting energised and motivated to continue implementing QI initiatives in their facilities.

Teams will reconvene in May 2026 for the next cluster meeting as Project Aisha continues supporting efforts to strengthen maternal healthcare services across Lagos State.
