Strengthening primary health care requires more than investment — it requires clarity, structure, and shared ownership.
Kaduna State continues to demonstrate commitment to improving PHC delivery despite persistent challenges, including workforce gaps, stock-outs of essential medicines, and performance management constraints that affect service experience and public trust.
With technical support from HSDF, the State Government successfully developed a PHC-Execution Grant proposal that secured a multi-million-dollar partnership with the Gates Foundation. HSDF worked closely with state MDAs, CEOs, and programme officers to develop the proposal, co-create the Theory of Change, align priorities, and design the grant budget to ensure strategic and results-focused implementation.
Following this milestone, HSDF supported the planning and facilitation of the orientation workshop for state leadership and programme officers — setting the foundation for coordinated execution, accountability, and impact.
A significant first tranche of the grant has now been released, positioning Kaduna State to accelerate PHC reforms and strengthen service delivery across communities.
We remain committed to supporting the state in translating this investment into measurable improvements in primary health care performance and outcomes.
