The 2025 Kaduna State Health Sector Retreat, held in Lagos with support from the Gates Foundation, marked a strategic leap forward in consolidating health sector progress. Guided by the theme “From Insights to Impact”, the retreat brought together senior government officials, MDAs, legislators, and development partners to review progress, align with national reform priorities (SWAp, HOPE-GOV, SSHDP II), and co-create actionable next steps.
Key outcomes included:
Development partners, including Health Strategy and Delivery Foundation, UNICEF, Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc., LAFIYA programme, Natview Foundation for Technology Innovation, and SCIDaR – Solina Centre for International Development and Research, played active roles in supporting the retreat. HSDF contributed by leading a panel discussion on realistic planning, reinforcing the “One Conversation” principle and supporting the health sector as an implementing partner.
The Honourable Commissioner for Health emphasized the importance of sustainability, stating that “progress without consolidation is a missed opportunity” — a powerful remark that underscores Kaduna State’s renewed commitment to data-driven, people-centered, and impactful health service delivery through strengthened governance and coordinated planning.
