Kaduna State is taking bold, strategic steps to safeguard public health in the face of climate change!
At the recently concluded Domestication and Validation Meeting held at Hotel Seventeen in Kaduna State, stakeholders aligned Kaduna’s health planning with Nigeria’s Health National Adaptation Plan (HNAP).
The meeting aimed to:
· Validate a climate-health community engagement framework
· Align national strategies with Kaduna’s local priorities
· Strengthen social protection for vulnerable groups; and
· Promote inclusive, shock-responsive, and cross-sectoral action.
Organized by OpenGov Youth Innovation Hub, in collaboration with LGAM, CALPED, CWED, and supported by FCDO’s Lafiya and PACE programmes, the event also marked the inauguration of the Health-Climate Change Technical Working Group (TWG).
HSDF played a key role at the event by supporting the finalization of a community engagement framework and facilitating sessions on Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) to strengthen accountability and evidence-based adaptation. With a costed workplan and cross-sector commitment, Kaduna is setting a national precedent in climate-health resilience.
