To mark World Hypertension Day 2025, we partnered with key health stakeholders in Imo State to amplify the global call to action around this year’s theme: “𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲, 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐈𝐭, 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫.”
The event opened with a compelling address by the Honorable Commissioner for Health, Prof. Chukwuemeka Ubaka, emphasizing the life-saving power of accurate blood pressure monitoring and the state’s commitment to tackling hypertension as a silent threat. The Permanent Secretary, Imo State Ministry of Health, was also present, reinforcing institutional support.
Dr. Jane Adebi, State Coordinator for Non-Communicable Diseases, delivered a heartfelt goodwill message urging residents to make regular blood pressure checks part of their routine health culture.
A major highlight was a hands-on session led by the Chief Cardiologist of the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Owerri, who demonstrated how proper BP measurement techniques can make the difference between prevention and crisis.
Hypertension often goes unnoticed—but the right knowledge, tools, and community outreach can change that. This year’s theme isn’t just a slogan—it’s a proactive step towards saving lives.
Other partners present include World Health Organization, Population Services International and Imo State Health Insurance Agency (IMSHIA)
