Building on the success of the Maternal Health Quality Improvement (MHQI) Phase 1 Collaborative, Project Aisha is now expanding into Phase 2. This phase involves 17 healthcare facilities, including 11 Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) and 6 Maternity Hospitals, across Alimosho and Agege LGAs.

To kick off this next stage, 52 healthcare workers participated in a training session on September 25-26, 2024, at Amber Residence in Lagos. The training focused on improvement science using the “Model for Improvement” (MFI).

Key topics included:

  1. Identifying gaps in care delivery;
  2. Setting a SMART aim statement;
  3. Using analytical tools (5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, Process Maps) to find root causes;
  4. Developing solutions (change ideas);
  5. Monitoring performance with various measures; and
  6. Testing and implementing solutions through the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle.

Project Aisha is supported by MSD for Mothers and implemented by a consortium of partners including HSDF, mDoc, Ingress Health Partners, and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). We remain committed to our funders’ vision of achieving zero preventable maternal deaths and improving the quality of maternity care.
