The Lancet NCDI Poverty Commission was launched to address the disproportionate burden of NCDIs on the world’s poorest countries by bringing together leading NCDI researchers, clinicians and policy makers with support from the Program in Global NCDs and Social Change at Harvard Medical School and the NCD Synergies Project of Partners in Health.
HSDF serves alongside Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Health as the secretariat for the Nigeria NCDI Poverty Commission, with technical support from the NCDI Poverty Network to achieve the agreed terms of reference. HSDF currently serves as the co-chair of the Nigerian NCDI Poverty Commission. Working with 24 other commissioners, they have a mandate to:
Document local NCDI policies, strategies, and accomplishments in the country
Provide data regarding availability and coverage of key health sector interventions
Analyze current expenditures and investment in NCDIs and other initiatives
