Building on the momentum from last month’s Maternal Health Quality Improvement (MHQI) Summit, the Project Aisha team recently brought together representatives from 11 private hospitals in Lagos State for a peer-to-peer QI cluster meeting. The session served as a platform to share lessons learned, review progress data, and strategize on scaling successful interventions.
Since the launch of the QI efforts in September 2023, participating hospitals have made notable progress. During the meeting, a matron from Jefis Specialist Hospital shared her experience:
“I had been trying to implement routine urinalysis in my facility—a practice I was familiar with from my previous workplace—but I couldn’t get management’s approval. With Project Aisha’s Quality ANC Checklist, I built a stronger case using data and cost analysis. That helped me secure the approval. Now, routine urinalysis is a standard practice in our hospital.”
The meeting also introduced the Labour Care Guide (LCG), in collaboration with the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board and featured a session on “Customer Service Excellence in Healthcare Settings” led by HSDF’s Olasunmbo Makinde.
Private hospitals in Lagos are now translating knowledge gained into action, with Project Aisha driving the scale-up of proven quality improvement practices.
