Our Integrated Diabetes Awareness and Care (IDAC) project team recently welcomed representatives from the World Diabetes Foundation (WDF) to Abuja as part of a 5-day visit to Nigeria.

From clinics and communities to prayer halls and marketplaces, the WDF team witnessed firsthand the daily realities of the fight against diabetes and hypertension. A key highlight of the visit was their interaction with health workers trained through the IDAC project. They also engaged with beneficiaries and other key stakeholders who play vital roles in the projectโ€™s implementation.

The visit served as a reminder that addressing noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) requires more than policy conversations. It demands sustained, people-centered action. For our team, it was a moment to reflect on progress made so far and to reaffirm our commitment to the projectโ€™s mission: to increase awareness, improve access to integrated care, and promote the use of T2DM and hypertension data across Imo, Lagos, Kano, and the FCT by 2026.
