The World Diabetes Foundation (WDF), represented by Helen Wamuyu Chege, recently visited Lagos State as part of a 5-day tour of Diabetes Awareness and Care (DAC) Project sites in Nigeria. The visit, led by @Health Matters Incorporated (HMI) and Health Strategy and Delivery Foundation, highlighted grassroots progress in tackling diabetes and hypertension.
Day 1 featured advocacy visits to the Lagos State Ministry of Health and PHC Board, where stakeholders emphasized the project’s impact and potential for scale. This was followed by an inspiring session with the DAC Steering Committee and Health Challenge participants.
The next day, the team visited Kosofe LGA, toured PHCs in Ogudu and Agboyi-Ketu, and joined a vibrant outreach in Oworoshoki offering free screenings and referrals. A final debrief explored sustainability, digital data gaps, and DAC Phase 3 prospects.
The visit underscored how partnerships and community action are transforming NCD care in Nigeria.
