Earlier this year, matrons and midwives from five private health facilities convened for the Phase 1 Private Facility Cluster Meeting to review progress, exchange insights, and strengthen their understanding of how Quality Improvement (QI) structures are shaping service delivery.
Facilities shared practical experiences and discussed challenges with antenatal care (ANC) health education, particularly the impact of late client attendance. Participants explored more effective engagement approaches, including leveraging WhatsApp platforms and dedicating specific days for focused health education sessions.
Discussions also highlighted how QI principles are increasingly being applied beyond maternal health, with facilities working to streamline client flow and reduce Outpatient Department (OPD) waiting times using targeted quality improvement tools.
The meeting also showcased innovations aimed at improving ANC attendance and client engagement, including the introduction of Group Antenatal Care, which has already begun to increase turnout. Efforts to encourage partner involvement during late pregnancy are also helping to strengthen psychosocial support systems for expectant mothers.
The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to sustaining the gains achieved and advancing a culture of quality across participating facilities.
HSDF continues to support these efforts, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening maternal health systems and improving the quality of care delivered to communities.
