The Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning recently hosted a validation exercise for the 2024 State of Nutrition (SON) report, gathering diverse stakeholders including non-ANRiN state nutrition officers, ANRiN state PIUs, the PMU, FMBEP, the World Bank, HSDF, etc. The event provided a platform for collaborative input and validation of the report, which aims to advance nutrition initiatives across the country.
The event featured remarks from Dr. Sanjo Faniran, Director of Social Development at FMBEP, and Dr. Ritgak Tilley-Gyado, Task Team Lead at the World Bank. Both emphasized the critical role of the SON report in shaping national nutrition policies and interventions.
Mrs. Clementina Okoro, Deputy Director of the Nutrition Unit, delivered a comprehensive overview of the 2024 SON report. Her presentation highlighted key findings and focal areas, including nutrition financing, feeding practices, food insecurity, and state-level nutrition status.
HSDF played a pivotal role in the meeting, providing an in-depth analysis of the National Report on Nutrition and facilitating the review of the state-by-state nutrition status in several regions. The discussions generated valuable feedback, particularly regarding the alignment of national survey data with the realities observed in various states. This feedback will be essential in finalizing the 2024 SON report, which is expected to offer insights for improving nutrition strategies nationwide.
