Last week, our Diabetes Awareness and Care (DAC) team led an advocacy engagement at the National Assembly in Abuja alongside key partners from the NCDI network – including FMoHSW, PSI, Codix Group, RTSL, and WHO.
We were honored to meet with the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and the Clerk of the National Assembly, Mr. Kamoru Ogunlana. Discussions focused on elevating hypertension as a critical public health issue. A major milestone of the visit was the Speaker’s commitment to allow the NCD implementing partners a rare 15-minute presentation slot in the Senate chamber today – a significant advocacy win!
This engagement marks a key step in raising national awareness about non-communicable diseases and we’re proud to drive momentum through the Integrated Diabetes Awareness and Care Project—and look forward to making our case on the Senate floor.
