Project Aisha recently hosted its 5th Maternal Health Quality Improvement (MHQI) Learning Session for the Kaduna Collaborative in Zaria, bringing together 39 participants from selected health facilities and leadership-level staff from SMOH, SPHCB, Zonal, and Zaria LGHA.
This two-day event marked a significant milestone in our strategy to reduce maternal deaths and obstetric complications in the state. The session provided key updates on the project’s progress and sparked strategic discussions on maternal and non-maternal health QI project focus areas. Participants also gained valuable insights into women’s maternal health needs through feedback gathered via NaviHealth.ai and by hearing directly from women in the community. Additionally, selected participants taught a recap of the Model for Improvement concepts, reinforcing the importance of sustainability.
Each of the nine (9) collaborative facilities shared presentations on their progress, successes, and challenges in implementing their respective QI projects. A crucial part of the session was a review of sustainability strategies, which include state championed peer-to-peer learning cluster meetings, which aims to ensure the lasting impact of the project and expansion of the competency beyond maternal care.
Project Aisha remains dedicated to improving maternal health outcomes, promoting collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and sustainable practices to drive long-term change. Together, we are making significant strides in reducing maternal mortality and strengthening healthcare systems across Nigeria!
