Project Aisha made a remarkable impact at the recent ISQua conference in Istanbul, Turkey, by presenting two abstracts that highlight its critical work in improving maternal healthcare through tailored solutions and patient feedback.
The first abstract, presented by Dr. Olasunmbo Makinde, one of HSDF’s program managers, was titled “Using Context-Specific Solutions to Strengthen Access to Emergency Obstetric Care in a Low-Resource Setting.” This work emphasizes the importance of context-driven strategies in enhancing access to emergency obstetric care, particularly in rural and urban areas where resources are limited. By identifying challenges and leveraging local knowledge, the project effectively develops interventions using the Model for Improvement as a quality improvement framework.
The second abstract, “Enhancing Maternal Health Care through Patient Feedback: The Role of Women’s Education in Quality Improvement,” underscores the power of patient feedback, particularly through the lens of women’s education. By utilizing a digital platform to collect women’s experiences, the project empowers women and ensures that healthcare remains truly patient-centered. This direct feedback is essential in driving better outcomes and experiences for mothers and their families.
Overall, Project Aisha’s presence at the conference underscores its commitment to advancing maternal care and improving healthcare quality. Supported by MSD for Mothers and a consortium of partners including HSDF, IHI, mDoc, and Ingress Health Partners, Project Aisha continues to lead efforts in enhancing maternal healthcare experiences globally.
