A program team comprising representatives from the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) and HSDF recently visited Bayelsa and Sokoto states to engage key stakeholders on a two-fold agenda: first, to solicit support for, and second, to align on the strategic implementation approach and the operational work plan for the NCDI Phase 2 project.
During these highly productive visits, the delegation engaged key officials, including the Permanent Secretaries (PS), Directors and Deputy Directors of Public Health in both states, who expressed excitement and made commitments to provide necessary support in ensuring the successful execution of the project in both states. In his remarks, the Director of Public Health in Bayelsa State, Dr. Jones Stow, stressed the need to initiate data collection as soon as possible, considering the impending risk of flooding during the rainy season.
The Nigeria Non-Communicable Diseases and Injuries (NCDI) Phase 2 project is a collaborative initiative between the Health Strategy and Delivery Foundation and the Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) division of the Federal Ministry of Health, Nigeria. This phase is strategically designed to evaluate the existing implementation of prioritized NCDI interventions and to formulate recommendations concerning integrated delivery models that target specific NCDI conditions. Furthermore, the project seeks to unravel how the implementation of integrated care can be a driving force in advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC), particularly concerning Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in Nigeria.
